Help me legal hospital bill question?

I was aulted on the way out of a bar about 6 months ago. I was hit in the head walking out of the bar with a beer bottle, by a guy who was trying to get into a biker gang. Anyway when I came to the bar staff had called the EMT's and the cops were arresting the guy. I told them that I didn't want to go to the hospital because I have no health insurance. But I was taken anyway, I got 6 stitches in my forehead, 4 stiches in my lip, a hepititus shot ( which I had already received because im in the army national guard) and they gave me a CAT scan to check for a concussion. I didn't press charges, because I was out of it at the tine and had no idea really what had happened. Now I have a $7000 medical bill that I cannot afford, can't even come close to affording, and I am being threatened with legal action if I do not pay it. please any help will be appreciated I don't know what to do and cannot afford a lawyer.
