Why do liberals think John Kerry was a war hero when he belittled the troops?

I'll wager that John Kerry spent more time in Vietnam than you spent in ANY war zone. John Kerry was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts. People don't just put themselves in for a medal. They are awarded. Belittling the awarding of these recognitions of heroism to one veteran belittles the awarding of it to all. Kerry did not belittle the troops. Like many decorated war heroes Kerry protested the war policies. This does not make him any less of a hero for what he did while serving.
