Can A Tokay Gecko Eat a School roach?

I caught a one inch roach in school the other day and was wondering if it would be safe for my pet to eat it? I heard that roaches can carry many diseases only if they ingest something that can cause it. Would it be wise of me to do this? I have fed my gecko other insects outside and he just loves it! However, I do not want to do something that will jeopardize my pet's life.
